Jesus is the Prophet (capital p Prophet). Jesus is the Word. And so we see that the Prophet and the Word are One in Christ. This is why Peter says that prophets speak from God, for the Spirit of the Prophet and the Spirit of the Word are one Spirit. Without the Word, the Prophet would not be. The Word is the Divine Essence, omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, holding all things together. So when a prophet speaks the “Word” of the Lord, they speak from the Divine Essence of God, from the Omnipresent One, the Omnipotent One, the Omniscient One, the One whom upholds all things. Look at Jeremiah. This is what God told him in the beginning of his ministry:
“Then the LORD stretched out His hand and touched my mouth, and the LORD said to me, “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. “See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, To pluck up and to break down, To destroy and to overthrow, To build and to plant.””
JEREMIAH 1:9-10 NASB
Notice the last part. “To pluck up and to break down… to build and to plant.” How is this so? The words given to him carry the Divine Word which upholds all things. A prophet is a funnel for the Divine Essence to flow out. The living Word flows through them and comes out into the natural as the spoken word of God, and so He said, “I have put my Words in your mouth,” for as he speaks from the Word, the words of God are heard on the Earth, and a true “word of the Lord” will never return void.
